With more than 20 years of experience in the development of for-profit and nonprofit organizations, Glenice Saddler currently serves as IHSC's Principal and Chief Strategist. Glenice's career began in South Carolina, but she honed her skills while living in New England and serving on the senior management team of a company that she cofounded. This endeavor, along with training at the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center, enabled her to become well-versed in guiding and assisting small businesses in start-up and development. Upon her return to South Carolina, she continued her work in the for-profit arena, while also strategically applying her knowledge, skills, and abilities to the nonprofit and social sectors, where she soon found herself immersed in community and economic development, educational equity, and civic engagement. As a result, she has emerged as a proven professional with broad and multifaceted competencies, and diverse and interdisciplinary experience across multiple sectors and in various disciplines.
An excellent communicator accustomed to working independently and in team environments in both leadership and support roles, Glenice has the ability to exhibit resourcefulness and resiliency, with the creativity and adaptability to find multiple paths and solutions to overcome challenges. When asked what motivates her work, Glenice had this to say, "From passion to purpose to impact, you don't have to be a world changer to change the world around you. Start in your community with good deeds and genuine concern, and you will find that your passion will evolve into a purpose that will surely impact someone in need of what you have to give."
Glenice has been instrumental in the start-up and development of several organizations, and has extensive experience with for-profit and nonprofit organizations, public and private sector endeavors, social enterprises, and grassroots initiatives. She holds a master’s degree in grants administration and is currently a doctoral student in education with a focus on transformative leadership, learning, and innovation. Her future plans include writing a book and developing workshops to help people learn how to launch initiatives that bring out the best in themselves while also helping others.
